EGR, DPF & SCR
EGR was introduced in several heavy-duty engines in October 2002 to meet the new EPA requirements. It was implemented in engines from 2003 to the present. DPF was introduced in 2006 and implemented in heavy-duty diesel engines from 2007 to the present. SCR and DEF systems were introduced in 2010 and onward. Now we have all these systems cleaning up exhaust gases before they reach the environment which is great for climate change activists but not so great for truck owners. These systems if not maintained and monitored properly will inevitably cause you to breakdown. You need to be doing passive regenerations, topping up your DEF and making sure there are no leaks in the exhaust system. All our technicians are trained in up to date dealer information about these systems because they update these systems every year and will probably continue to do so to meet the never ending requirements of the EPA.
