Whether it’s a Cummins, Volvo or Detroit Diesel they all require upkeep and a detailed routine inspection. A good preventative maintenance program will catch oil leaks while they’re still small or exhaust leaks and loose components before they break down on the roadside. Even engine lights can warn us of complete breakdowns before they happen. For instance your ECU will log a code every time it senses a problem with the after treatment system. If we find codes with many counts it is almost a sure fire way to know that the related component is starting to go.
