STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS
The starting systems and charging systems consist of batteries, starters, alternators, solenoids, relays, wires, cables, switches, fuses and computers. All of these components make up the 2 systems. The batteries power up the starter and all your computers and lights. The starter turns over the engine to get the crankshaft going and the alternator charges the batteries so they are not drained by the various computers, lights and radios. All of these components are connected by cables. Solenoids, relays and switches help them direct power when needed and when not needed. When it comes to these systems grounding is usually the biggest issue next to corroded cables. All of these components should be checked during a good PM inspection.
